The current new Australian specified vehicles coming on to the road, are fitted with a wider range of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS). These systems rely on monitoring the environment around the vehicle, typically using radar/ camera/ laser and infra-red sensors, which can be mounted on the windscreen or body of the vehicle.
Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) includes a wide range of safety features for vehicles such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warnings (LDW), lane keep assist, night vision cameras and adaptive lighting. By 2020, its predicted that more than 40% of new vehicles will have at least two types of driver assistance systems fitted as standard,
Most ADAS features rely on a group of cameras or sensors to do their required jobs. They usually sit inside of a car windscreen, front grille or within the front & Rear bumper. Calibration is required when the following occurs
A calibration is preformed to correct misalignment, so that your vehicles ADAS system is working as intended. If a calibration is missed, an ADAS component may not function as it should and could cause a potential risk to you and others on the road.
It is advisable to have your vehicles camera(s) and/or radar sensor(s) checked if they haven't been calibrated in the last 3 years.
